In some ways the hurdles to maintaining business operations during the pandemic were overwhelming for some and for others helpful.
Many of our commercial partners experienced shrinking turnover and an uncertain future. A small few managed to grow their businesses, acquire new companies and ambitiously plan for the future. Indian Ocean Group and Plataforma Asia were one of the few.
Having inked a M&A arrangement in late 2022 the O&P team travelled to India with IOG and Plataforma Asia to visit their operations in Bombay, Pune, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Visakhapatnam.
The IOG and Plataforma Asia group is committed to increasing the productivity and profitability of Indian farmers (large farmer groups, smallholders and marginal farmers) with their key drivers of innovation, optimization and scalability. Investing to impact food security, input ecosystems and food processing through a wide portfolio companies.
The group includes agricultural value addition manufacturing within pineapple, millet and coconut sectors. In many cases the business operates as a vertical from producer to consumer product and offers up agritech solutions as a technology enabled, research & development focused agritech company.
O&P New Zealand enables access to New Zealand’s high quality food technology processes and knowledge base. For O&P developing commercial relationships with India is a high priority for New Zealand. India’s strong economy, large population and international influence make it a key partner in the Indo-Pacific region. It also represents enormous potential for New Zealand exporters.
